Treatments For Teens
About Orthodontics for Teens

Orthodontic treatment can be necessary and beneficial at any age, however it is most prevalent for kids in their teenage years. All of the adult teeth are out between ages 11 and 14 years old, and teeth move more easily at this age than in adulthood. Since adolescents are growing so much at this age, it is a great time to move the teeth and jaw into their ideal position.
This makes adolescence a great time to start orthodontic care in order to improve the smile and align the teeth. Additionally, orthodontic care at this age can utilize the natural growth to correct skeletal issues. Skeletal changes in adults is often feasible through a surgical approach.

How Long Will It Take?
Conventional braces for teens may take less time to see results compared to aligners, mostly because of noncompliance with 22 hours of recommended aligner wear. Treatment time is usually between 12 months to 2 years for teens, but it really depends on the patient. Severely misaligned teeth or bite problems could take more time. Accidents or improper handling of the orthodontic appliance could also extend the treatment.
For teens that choose clear aligners, the most important factors are the recommended 22 hours of daily wear and maintaining a great oral hygiene. Teens teeth move fairly quickly. The treatment time between conventional braces and clear aligners are not significantly different. Clear aligners can have a powerful impact if they are worn 22 hours a day.

Parents Reviews
We love the Porth crew! They are warm, professional and have a state of the art practice. We’ve had a few mishaps and they’ve always been able to get us in with no problem. My older daughter is almost done with her Phase I treatment and we are extremely happy with the results. She actually looks forward to her ortho appointments!

From my first time calling in I knew we had made the right choice! Crystal was warm friendly and made us feel at home right away. When we met with Elly for our consult things just got better. She explained our options very thoroughly and answered all our questions. My daughter was excited and a bit nervous but Dr Rooz made her feel comfortable immediately. He was kind and direct about what she would need and she liked him so much she asked when we could come again! We will definitely be recommending him to everyone we know!

My son has just started his journey with Porth in June and wow what a great beginning it is! From the initial contact and visit to the first few appointments- a remarkable, smooth process. Do they sleep? Sometimes my son reaches after hours and gets a response the same day.
For us, aligners with Dr. Rooz is definitely proving to be the best decision! Thank you Porth and keep it up!

Navigating the cost of braces for your teen can seem daunting, but a free consultation with our orthodontist can illuminate the path ahead. During the consultation, PORTH team and Dr. Rooz will examine your teen's teeth and offer a treatment plan depending on the condition of their oral health, including any overbite issues.
Traditional metal braces, with metal brackets, are the most common type of orthodontic treatment due to their efficacy in delivering straighter teeth. Ceramic braces, which are tooth-colored, offer a more discreet alternative, albeit at a slightly higher profile of these braces. Clear aligners, such as Invisalign, provide a nearly invisible method using custom-made clear aligners, and tend to be priced similar to traditional braces. Lingual braces, fitted on the inner side of the teeth, offer the highest level of discretion, but come with a steeper price tag due to the custom-made nature of the braces.
Regardless of the type of braces chosen, it's important to note that the overall cost will include the price of a retainer to maintain the perfect smile after the treatment time. Costs can vary widely based on these treatment options, but investing in your teen's braces during their teenage years is a worthwhile investment towards their confident, perfect smile.
