At your initial consultation, we use advanced digital technology to help you better understand roots of problems and learn more about your personalized treatment. You will be offer multiple choices of appliances to pick.

Let’s delve deeper on details of what happens during an orthodontic consultation in our modern orthodontic clinic.

What Is An Orthodontic Consultation?

An orthodontic consultation is the first step to your treatment journey. Before any decisions can be made about your treatment, you’ll need to sit down with our orthodontic professionals to evaluate the current state of your oral health. During your consultation, Dr. Rooz will assess your teeth, gums and jaw to determine your customized treatment plan for your perfect smile.

On average, an orthodontic consultation will take about 30 to 60 minutes to complete. During this time, you will meet multiple staff members, experience the benefits of digital orthodontic technology and discuss treatment and payment options. Our team will walk you through costs, treatment timelines and the pros/cons for each of your options. It’s a good idea to do some research beforehand and come in with any of your questions prepared!

We welcome patients to come into your office for their consultation, but for your convenience we also offer no-obligation virtual consultations.

The process for virtual consultations is very similar to in-person consultations. With the virtual option, you can complete your consultation from anywhere and still receive personal feedback from Dr. Rooz about what your options are.

Who Will You See During Your First Appointment?

After you check in with our receptionist at your first visit, you will be taken to a treatment chair where you will be greeted by one of our orthodontic assistants. At PORTH, our treatment coordinator will work with you during this appointment.  we’re proud to use some of the most advanced digital orthodontic technology and have a professionally trained team who will help assess your smile during the first half of your appointment. One of orthodontic assistants will complete an oral examination by taking a digital scan of your mouth to evaluate the position of your teeth and how your jaw comes together in our digital software. We will also check your dental and medical history for any dental or medical conditions.

Dr. Rooz will review all your records to determine what orthodontic problems you have. Then he will review the treatment options for you and creates a personalized treatment plan for you. We will also talk about orthodontic retainers. The next appointment you will get your appliances such as PORTH aligners placed on your teeth and start your treatment.

Are X-rays Taken at the Braces Consultation?

Panoramic x-ray at Personalized Orthodontics | PORTH – Adult and baby teeth are present

We strive to offer a comprehensive orthodontic consultation to all new patients. To this end, we need to take x-rays to see adult or child’s teeth. Our clinic policy is to reduce the amount of radiation for everyone so we work with your dentist to not over expose patients. A panoramic x-ray helps Dr. Rooz to identify any problems occurring underneath your gums including the roots of your teeth. The panoramic type of x-ray is different from a traditional radiograph that your dentist takes. Additionally, this type of X-ray allows us to identify problems such as “bone abnormalities and fractures, cysts, impacted teeth, infections and tumors.

There are several benefits to performing a panoramic x-ray during your initial consultation, such as:

  • Improved care. Our team will be able to see how your head, neck, and jaw work together. This will help determine which orthodontic appliance will best suit your needs.
  • Earlier detection. Panoramic x-rays allows our team to see any problems before they arise or become worse.
  • Identify oral changes. If you have previously received a panoramic x-ray, we can identify if there has been any shifting or changes in your oral alignment.
  • Beneficial for any age. For children, a panoramic x-ray can help an orthodontist track their oral development. For adults, it can help identify any abnormalities in their oral cavity.

Why Right Now Is A Good Time For An Orthodontic Consultation

With the back-to-school season in full swing, now would be the perfect time to book yourself or your child in for an orthodontic consultation.

Schedules tend to get busier in the fall and appointment slots will book up during after-school hours and holidays. It’s always a good idea to plan your orthodontic consultation in advance to best accommodate your schedule.

If you have a child that’s starting the second or third grade this year, it’s time to schedule them an appointment at one of our clinics.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic check-up no later than age 7. By the time a child reaches the age of 7, they should have a good mix of both their permanent and baby teeth. At this time, Dr.Rooz can assess your child’s oral development and determine whether or not orthodontic treatment will be needed in the future.

If you’re ready to book yourself or your child a free in-person or virtual consultation, please click here to do so online in less than 5 minutes. If you have any questions, you can also reach us at (425) 526-2060 or by emailing [email protected].
